Bitcoin Self-Custody Now A Right In Oklahoma
MetaMask Launches Smart Transactions, Crypto.com Offers Instant Top-Ups In The US
Oklahoma has passed a law to protect the right to self-custody Bitcoin and other assets stored in hardware wallets.
The law is to go into effect on November 1st of this year.
The state government is now prohibited from restricting or banning the purchase of (legal) goods and services using cryptocurrencies.
The law also makes digital asset mining at home with noise ordinances compliance legal and protected. Transaction validation operations are also protected from liabilities.
There is no license required for mining or node operation or on-chain staking.
This legislation, alongside similar ones in other states, was introduced with the help of The Satoshi Action Fund.
11 other states, including South Carolina, Louisiana, Ohio, Mississippi, and others are working to protect Bitcoin rights.
