California DMV Uses Blockchain
BlackRock Says No To Solana ETFs Due To "No Demand", Polkadot Activity At Yearly Low
The California DMV has digitized 42 million car titles by putting them on a blockchain — that's the first time a US state has embraced blockchain to such a degree.
This comes from California Governor Gavin Newsom's executive order from back in 2022 for increasing blockchain adoption in the "real world".
They are using the Avalanche blockchain and have also partnered with Oxhead Alpha, which is handling the digitization and said in a post that title claims can be done in minutes.
Users will be able to claim their vehicles' titles on an app that will be launched next year. California is also set to create a digital wallet for residents.
For reference, with a population of slightly over 39 million, California had 35.7 million registered vehicles as of January of this year.
