CEXs Slowly Losing To DEXs
Mt. Gox Nears Completion Of Creditor Repayment, Euro-backed Stablecoin Launches On Base
According to reports from DeFiLlama (DEX volume) and CoinGecko (total trading volume) data, crypto trading on DEXs compared to total volume has jumped from 4.6% to 7% this month.
The growth of memecoins and "long-tail" assets is one of the main reasons for this growth, according to Messari senior research analyst Kunal Goel. New assets tend to appear on CEXs only later on.
He also noted the improvement of UX and fees, as well as throughput on Ether and Solana Ls
In the past 24h, DeFiLlama data shows that DEX volume accounted for 22% of total cryto trading volume.
This trend of DEXs taking market share from CEXs has been prevalent throughout this year, with a high reported in March.
