Consumers prefer cash over CBDCs - Survey
Australia To Mandate Licenses For Crypto Startups, Tether Hits Record Market Cap
Deutsche Bank surveyed 4,850 people in the US, the UK, and Europe in March and July, to find out the public's perception on digital assets.
The survey finds that consumers prefer cash and credit cards over CBDCs. 44% would rather use cash than a CBDC, and 57% would rather use credit or debit card.
Only 16% see CBDCs as something that could become mainstream.
The report said that while 59% believe cash will always be relevant, the pandemic did increase the adoption of digital payments.
21% believes that a general cryptocurrency would be better for privacy compared to central bank-backed crypto, and 31% would prefer a crypto managed by the central bank.
More people from Europe than in the US or the UK seem to prefer cash due to its anonymity.
