Ethereum’s Pectra fork updates
EigenLayer's Twitter Hacked, Worldcoin Rebrands As 'World' And Introduces L2
The Ethereum Pectra EIP-7742 upgrade is coming soon, and developers are working out blob-carrying transaction optimization.
Blobs (Proto-danksharding) are a data structure for data sent for L1 verification that is bigger, better organized, and can be purged after verification, unlike batching-up that was used prior. Blob gas has its own market.
In the All Core Devs meeting, it was noted that the upgrade would bring dynamic setting of the blob gas target and max values.
EIP-7623 is another proposal that could free up blob space by reducing block size from 2.7MB to 1MB.
All of these potential features are parts of the road to Vitalik's 100,000 TPS vision.
There are downsides. L2 scaling massively declined Ether's mainnet share of total network revenue. The revenue ratio of Ethereum to Ethereum L2s has been 10:90.
The community is expecting Pectra to come in late 2024 or early 2025.
