Ethereum's Upcoming Pectra Upgrade - Details
Cyber Capital Founder Accuses Tether Of Being A Scam, Phishing Sites At The Top Of DuckDuckGo Search Results
Ethereum developers are working on and publicly discussing the upcoming Pectra, an upgrade once again aimed at improving scalability and efficiency of the network.
They are considering a split of the upgrade in 2 parts, with the first one realistically being in early 2025 around February.
The Pectra upgrade would separate into the Prague upgrade and the Electra upgrade, with the former focusing on execution and the latter - on consensus.
At a Sept. 12 execution layer meeting, it was noted that developers agree that if the upgrade was split, Pectra 1 could arrive sooner than expected earlier.
Smaller forks also tend to have less risk.
It was also said that if nothing, not even phase 1 is released before June of next year, that would be regarded as a "failure".
Pectra could be the biggest upgrade in Ethereum's history, according to Galaxy researcher Christine Kim.
One of the highlights of Pectra is its aim to introduce EIP-3074, which would make wallets work like smart contracts.
