Monero Surpasses Bitcoin On CoinCards
HashKey Teases Launch Date Of Own Ethereum L2, Coinbase Impersonators Steal $1.7 Million
CoinCards.com, a prominent gift card platform powered by cryptocurrency payments, saw Monero surpassing Bitcoin in payments volume in June.
The platform stands with 34.4% of Monero transactions, 25.96% of Bitcoin, 20.2% of USDC, and 9.8% of Ethereum, as per CoinCards' tweet.
CoinCards has been reporting this breakdown since April of last year.
This is part of a larger trend in users seeming to prefer the privacy-driven Monero to even the most popular cryptos.
Monero is also leading with a majority share in darknet market, which move billions per year, as per CoinTelegraph's coverage.
It hasn't taken long for clearnet markets to follow the trends of darknet markets, and CoinCards is just one of the examples of this.
Despite the notable surge in Monero dominance, Bitcoin still validates more transactions than Monero.
One should still note the major difference in Bitcoin and Monero's market caps (~$1.119 trillion vs ~$2.88 billion), which makes the high usage of Monero even more surprising.
