Transak, a leading Visa-partner 'on-ramp' service used by MetaMask, Binance, and others, is facing a ransomware data breach affecting 93,000 users.
The CEO said that the attacker gained access to names, dates of birth, ID documents, and selfie photos and videos.
No financially sensitive information was compromised, according to Transak's blog post.
However, the ransomware group that claimed responsibility is seeking to negotiate with Transak. The group also claimed on Telegram that their breach impacts all KYC data processed through Transak.
They threatened to leak or sell the data if Transak doesn't pay a ransom. Transak CEO said the company wouldn’t negotiate.
The CEO also said the breach occurred because an employee used a work laptop for non-work things. And that rumors about the attacker's access to other systems aren't true.
