Uniswap debuts Unichain Layer 2
~50% of US Investors Planning To Buy Crypto ETFs, Ripple Files Cross-Appeal In SEC Case
Uniswap Labs announced yesterday its own layer 2 network Unichain that aims to bring cheaper and faster transactions and improve liquidity.
Unichain is a decentralized Optimism Superchain L2 created through a partnership with OP Labs and will work to create native interoperability (single-block cross-chain message-passing).
One of the core challenges of Unichain will be to improve the scalability of Ethereum itself via modularity and create a builder and validation network.
The company's CEO said that Unichain is set to deliver similar speed and cost savings to existing L2s, but with better liquidity access and decentralization.
Uniswap has processed $2.4 trillion in volume over the past 6 years and scaled to millions of users.
The testnet of Unichain went live October 10.
