Whale Donated 8 BTC for Julian Assange's Expenses
USDT Supply on TON Surpasses 500M, Algorand Launches LiquidAuth For WalletConnect Security
WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange is free after a 14-year legal battle over extradition to the US and a 5 year and 2 month imprisonment.
WikiLeaks, a non-profit, published classified documents — leaks — from anonymous sources, exposing human rights and other violations.
An anonymous Bitcoin whale has donated 8.07 BTC (~$496k) to help Julian Assange and his family to pay off debts from travel on a private plane to Australia and other expenses.
Assange was released June 24 from Belmarsh prison in the UK once a plea agreement with the US was reached. He departed on the private plane from London to Saipan (US).
In Saipan on June 26, Assange pleaded guilty to one charge of the U.S. Espionage Act breach and walked out a free man. He'd already served the exact prison time in the UK that was quoted by the Judge in Saipan.
The private jet flight to Australia cost $520k, but a single anonymous donor sent very close to that amount, around $500k.
Assange has also received fiat — 300k Pound Sterling in donations.
